G-ARPO Hosts Local Firefighters

The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service were on site at the museum today to take part in a training exercise which focussed on our Trident. In glorious sunshine, the staged incident saw dummies placed inside the aircraft and fire fighters tasked with simulating the exercise to assess the situation, deal with (an imaginary) fire, reach the casualties and extract them fro the ‘wreckage’. More Parts Rescued from Trident at Belfast

Last week we had the opportunity to go and rescue some parts from the Trident 2E at Belfast International to use in the restoration of G-ARPO. The Trident there is used by the airport fire service, and we had a very successful trip in the early days of our project to find lots of useful parts which have been use in our aircraft. This time we were able to take a selection of good window panes to replace the damaged, scratched and opaque examples on our aircraft, as well as some other useful bits.
