G-ARPO to Feature on CBeebies!

Our Trident, G-ARPO, will again feature on TV next week as it took part in a new episode of the CBeebies “My First” series. In it, a father will take his son to an air show for the first time. Here’s the synopsis: Join Jesse as he goes to an air show for the first time. Jesse is making paper aeroplanes with his family when Dad tells him they are going to an air show. First, Jesse and his family go to an air museum where they learn about different kinds of aircraft and what they’re used for. Jesse gets to see all kinds of aeroplanes and tries flying a helicopter. You’ll see the cabin, cockpit, memorabilia and information displays. We also have DVDs and sound effects playing to add to the...

Jump Seat and Catering Trolley Additions

We’ve recently added two new items to our Trident interior thanks to a loan from the de Havilland Aircraft Museum. Our cockpit now sports a jump seat, whilst the galley has its very own catering trolley. Both of these items are authentic Trident parts which flew on actual aircraft – maybe even G-ARPO!  They now have pride of place and make our exhibit even more interesting to visitors and Trident fans. We’d like to thank Alistair and Les at the de Havilland Aircraft Museum at London Colney (www.dehavillandmuseum.co.uk) for the kind loan of these parts, helping to...

G-ARPO Log Books Updated

We’ve continued to receive a lot of log book details from the pilots we have made contact with who flew our Trident, G-ARPO when it was in active service. This is a really interesting part of what we’re doing to restore the aircraft, uncovering details of its life between 1965 and 1983.  The log books tell us where the aircraft flew, and which pilots were at the helm. To date we’ve received logs from 300 pilots who all flew G-ARPO. This is a real achievement and we’re very pleased to have reached this milestone. If you look at our logs, you will see thousands of...
