Trident at 50

It was 9th January 1962 that John Cunningham captained the first ever Trident flight in G-ARPA at Hatfield. That momentous day saw the start of a special aircraft that went on to revolutionise autoland technology, the three rear mounted engine design, and became one of the fastest subsonic airliners ever produced. With only a handful of aircraft preserved, and our own G-ARPO being the last complete Trident 1C anywhere in the world, let’s make 2012 – this significant 50th year – the one in which we secure this aircraft’s future here at the North East Aircraft Museum....
