Our very own Neil Lomax is presenting a talk about the Hawker Siddeley Trident at the Royal Aeronautical Society in Southend on 14th May. He’ll be looking at the history of the type, along with the work he did on restoring Trident 3B G-AWZK at Manchester, and the work-to-date on our very own Trident 1C G-ARPO at Sunderland. Successful trip to Belfast

Members of the Save The Trident team visited Belfast International on Thursday 20 May to strip useful parts from Trident 2E G-AVFE, which is owned by the airport fire service there. Tony Jarrett and Neil Lomax took a van, kindly supplied half-price by Intack, across to Belfast on a donated ferry crossing with Stena Line from Stranraer. They stayed the night courtesy of Gil Good Lodge near the airport, who treated them both very well and provided a very pleasant night’s sleep. HSS Sponsor Neil

HSS Tool Hire have agreed to sponsor us again by putting Neil Lomax, a member of the Save The Trident team, through an abbrasive wheel course in April. Neil will be cutting the Trident prior to the transporting of the aircraft and it is the stipulation today with Health and Safety rules that this course is completed before doing so. The course would have cost £95, but HSS have very kindly given this as a donation in addition to tool hire previously offered. Neil Lomax’s talk at the Royal Aeronautical Society covered the Hawker Siddeley HS.121 Trident aircraft, his work on preserving G-AWZK at Manchester, and introduced the campaign to save G-ARPO. The talk was enjoyed by all, and to top it off the organisation donated money from a raffle held at the event to our project, which will go towards saving our aircraft. On Thursday 11 March, Neil Lomax (team member, and Trident expert) will be doing a talk at the Royal Aeronautical Society at the Community Learning Centre, BA Waterside.
